Beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake

It was my 5th wedding anniversary last weekend, and my husband surprised me with a weekend trip to the inn where we got married. I feel like Niagara-on-the-Lake is not as well-known as Niagara Falls (at least to foreigners!) but if you are in the area, I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful town!

Where I stayed?

We stayed at the Pillar & Post. We got married at that same Inn 5 years ago and needless to say that we love it!

How to get around?

There are different wine tours available for those who want to explore the area’s many vineyards (ask at the hotel). If you are exploring the old town, I recommend walking: most of the inns and B&B are close to the main street where all the shops and restaurants are.

What to eat?

My favourite restaurant in the area is (by far!) Kitchen 76 at the Two Sisters Vineyard. They serve amazing Italian food at the most beautiful, romantic setting possible overlooking the vineyard. You really can’t go wrong with the food or the wine. You need to reserve as early as possible! It’s really hard to get a table, especially on spring-summer weekends!

What to do?

Stroll through the main street visiting all the shops and galleries, grab a gelato at Gelato di Carlotta, take a vineyard tour and catch the sunset overlooking the lake. Check out the Shaw Festival or just relax at the spa

My favourite part of the trip:

I love strolling through the main street and walking into all the stores, especially the Christmas store (open year-round)!
